Month 1–2 I made $0

I kept investing anyway.

Hey,

Month 1: $0.
Month 2: $0.

I was still creating. Still learning. Still putting work into the world.

Friends asked why. "That stuff doesn't pay bills."

They weren't wrong — yet.

I wasn't building for month-one money. I was investing in skills that compound: writing, packaging, discipline, confidence.

Nobody pays you on day three. They pay you on day three hundred when they've watched you show up the whole time.

Month 3: $223. First proof money follows reps.

Month 13: $7,502. Same person. More proof. More trust built in public.

Investing in yourself before income shows up isn't naive. Quitting in month two because nothing moved — that's the expensive choice.

If you're in the zero-revenue phase — you're not behind. You're depositing.

Treat daily creating like gym reps. Results lag. They still come if you don't leave early.

People asked if I was okay. I said yeah, I'm building something. Sounded delusional even to me — until month three proved the reps were real.

But I could feel the skill stacking even when the bank account didn't move. Writing faster. Thinking clearer. One person reaching out, then two.

The money was always going to lag the skill. I just had to survive the gap.

Investing in yourself before income shows up is the bet most people refuse to make. They want proof before reps. The market gives proof after reps.

I didn't know month three would be $223. I didn't know month thirteen would be $7,502. I knew I'd regret quitting more than I'd regret trying. That kept me in.

Stay in the game. The deposit phase is real.

Keep depositing.

I still have the spreadsheet. Month 1: $0. Month 2: $0. Month 3: $223. I stare at it when I feel impatient now.

Friends weren't cruel. Just practical. "How's the online thing going?" I'd change the subject. I didn't have a good answer that sounded sane.

What I was buying with those zero months: faster writing, thicker skin, a body of public work strangers could scroll later. I couldn't monetize it yet. But it was accumulating — like gym reps before the mirror changes.

The expensive choice isn't working for free early. It's quitting in month two because the bank account doesn't move. Skills move first. Money follows skills plus trust plus offer. In that order. Always lagged.

I thought about freelancing more hours instead of creating. Safer. Would've paid bills faster. Would've delayed the brand by a year. I chose the gap. Scary. Correct.

People asked if I was okay. I was. I was just in the deposit phase. Not everyone understands deposits. They want withdrawals on day thirty.

If you're in month one or two with $0 — you're not failing. You're stacking. Write what you shipped this week. Count posts, replies, lessons — not just revenue. Revenue is a lagging scoreboard.

Month 3 surprised me. Not a fortune. Proof the game was real. Month 13 surprised me more. Same game. More reps behind it.

Stay in the deposit phase. Survive the gap. The spreadsheet gets interesting if you don't leave early.

I share these stories because Monday's tactics only work if you survive the chapters nobody posts about.

Month two silence. Deleted posts. $0 months. The first invoice that scared me. Boring Tuesdays. Sunday nights with honest eyes. That's the real personal brand journey — not the highlight reel.

Almost three years later I have 5.3K on 𝕏, 16.2K on LinkedIn, 1,100+ subscribers, and clients who found me in public. Same person who almost quit in the void. Different stamina.

Your details will differ. The lesson won't: keep building when it's boring. Protect your health. Ship when it's ugly. Study when it flops. Stay in the arena.

Personal branding online isn't a performance for strangers. It's the accumulated evidence that you kept going when quitting was rational.

I still have doubt days. I still open my work and think it's not good enough. I ship anyway. That's the life lesson behind every tactic I teach on Monday.

Don't quit ten percent before the bend. Your future self is counting on today's rep — even when today's rep feels invisible.

Thank you for reading.

About Me

Who Is Andrei Lucian?

Just a writer building in public.

Hey, I'm Andrei.

I'm a writer and ghostwriter obsessed with how people grow online without a viral lottery ticket — the drafts, the replies, and the small wins most creators never post about.

I spent years shouting into an empty feed before anything moved. Almost three years of daily writing later, I grew to 5,300+ on 𝕏, 16,300+ on LinkedIn, 5,500+ on Instagram, 850+ on Substack, and 1,100+ on my newsletter — all organic, no ads.

Now I document that playbook in my weekly letters and build content systems for founders who'd rather ship than stare at a blank page.
